IEEE Day 2025 Celebration – Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai Campus
The IEEE Student Branch of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai Campus, celebrated IEEE Day 2025 on October 10, 2025, with great enthusiasm at the AI Innovation Lab. The event embraced the global theme “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow,” symbolizing IEEE’s mission to advance technology for the benefit of humanity.
The celebration commenced with a welcome address and the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by an insightful keynote by Mr. Gireeshan A. N., who spoke about innovation in polymers, sustainable materials, and the growing scope of startups in engineering. His address encouraged students to embrace interdisciplinary research and entrepreneurial thinking.
Distinguished faculty members, including IEEE advisors and mentors, shared valuable insights on leadership, innovation, and professional growth within IEEE. The event also featured interactive sessions on the benefits of IEEE membership, upcoming chapter initiatives, and opportunities for students to engage in research and innovation.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of all coordinators, volunteers, and faculty members. Overall, IEEE Day 2025 served as an inspiring platform that united students, faculty, and professionals, fostering collaboration, creativity, and technological excellence.

Biography of the Speaker – Mr. Gireeshan A. N.
Managing Director, Avon Seals Pvt. Ltd.
Mr. Gireeshan A. N. is a distinguished industrial leader and entrepreneur with over four decades of experience in the polymer and manufacturing sectors. He is the Managing Director of Avon Seals Pvt. Ltd., India’s largest manufacturer of mechanical seals for water pumps, catering to over 300 pump manufacturers across the nation and exporting to countries including the UK, USA, Germany, Taiwan, and China.
A Gold Medallist in Polymer Science and Rubber Technology from the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and a graduate in Physics from S. N. College, Kannur, Mr. Gireeshan began his professional journey with J.K. Tyres Ltd. as an Assistant Technical Officer. He later served as Works Manager at Autolec Industries, Chennai, before founding Avon Seals Pvt. Ltd. in 1993. Under his visionary leadership, the company has grown exponentially, employing around 300 people and achieving a monthly production capacity of 1.1 million seals.
Beyond his entrepreneurial success, Mr. Gireeshan has made remarkable contributions to the industrial ecosystem. He has held key leadership roles in the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (AIEMA), serving as Chairman of its Technology Centre (2011–12), Managing Trustee of the AIEMA Silver Jubilee Trust (2017–19), and President of AIEMA (2021–22). He is currently a Member of the Regional Committee, EEPC India (Southern Region) and serves on the Academic Council of CUSAT.
Mr. Gireeshan is also deeply committed to social causes. He founded SHIELD & SHELTER, the CSR trust of Avon Seals, focusing on educational initiatives for underprivileged children, and PHYSIA77–AvonSeals Educational Trust, established by the alumni of S. N. College, Kannur. A passionate Rotarian since 1999, he served as President of the Rotary Club of Anna Nagar Madras (2016–17) and is recognized as a Major Donor (Level 1).
With his blend of technical expertise, entrepreneurial vision, and dedication to social responsibility, Mr. Gireeshan A. N. continues to inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators.
