As part of the IEEE Day 2025 celebrations, the IEEE LICET Student Branch, in collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and the IEEE Photonics Society Chapter, organized a guest lecture titled “Role of IEEE Student Chapters in Professional Growth.”The session was delivered by Mr. Parthiban Mani, IEEE Computer Society Advisor, Sri Sai Ram Institute of Technology, IEEE Day R10 Ambassador, and IEEE CS MAS Regional Coordinator. He emphasized the importance of IEEE membership in enhancing students’ technical skills, networking, and professional growth.Mr. Parthiban explained the different IEEE membership grades — Student, Graduate Student, Member, Senior Member, Fellow, and Life Member — and their role in shaping a successful professional journey. He also highlighted the 39 IEEE technical societies, each dedicated to specific engineering and technology domains, and encouraged students to explore interdisciplinary opportunities through them.He discussed various IEEE initiatives such as ACM conferences, IEEE EPICS, IEEE SIGHT, and global hackathons, which provide hands-on experience and international exposure. The session also covered project planning, resource allocation strategies, and the benefits of using IEEE tools and platforms.The event inspired students to actively participate in IEEE activities, utilize the resources available, and build global connections that support their academic and career aspirations.
