The IEEE University of Lagos Student Branch organized a special event to commemorate IEEE Day 2025, bringing together students, volunteers, and IEEE members to celebrate innovation and the global IEEE community.

The event aimed to enlighten the student community about what IEEE stands for, the benefits of membership, and the various volunteering, travel, and competition opportunities available to members. It also served as an interactive platform for sharing real-life experiences from outstanding IEEE student leaders.

The program featured four distinguished speakers:

  • Temitope Jinadu, IEEE Day Ambassador and recipient of the IEEE Computer Society Richard E. Merwin Scholarship, who shared his journey and experiences within IEEE.

  • Favour Olumese, IEEE Day Ambassador, who discussed the spirit of IEEE Day and the value of active volunteering.

  • Motunrayo Sanyaolu, Electronics Lead of the IEEE University of Lagos Student Branch, who recently received a travel grant to attend the IEEE Power Africa Conference in Egypt, shared insights from her international experience.

  • Samuel Bamgbola, 2nd Runner-up at the IEEE TEMS Global Student Competition, spoke on leveraging IEEE platforms for skill development and career growth.

Together, the speakers inspired participants to become active IEEE members, engage in community initiatives, and take advantage of the global opportunities that IEEE provides. The event concluded with an open discussion and membership drive session, where students were guided on how to register and renew their IEEE membership. #IEEEDAY #IEEEDAY2025 #ieeeday
