Missão Engenheirinhos (Little Engineers Mission) - IEEE Day Social Outreach
Humanitarian Visit to Orphanage Pequenos Jornaleiros
As part of IEEE Day celebrations, the IEEE WIE IFF Centro organized the “Little Engineers Mission”, a humanitarian outreach activity aimed at bringing technology and joy to children from the Orphanage Pequenos Jornaleiros.
During one week, members collected donations such as toys, clothes, and non-perishable food. On October 18th, volunteers visited the orphanage and conducted interactive workshops, including a pressure rocket built with recycled materials, demonstrations of an obstacle-avoiding robot, a voice assistant powered by AI for smart home control, and the SIGMA project – a sign language recognition system.
The team also presented a simple experiment explaining how electric current works, using a light board to illustrate the concept.
The event combined engineering, creativity, and empathy, aligning with IEEE’s mission to advance technology for humanity.
