IEEE SIGHT Hyderabad Section in collaboration with Jayamukhi IEEE Student branch hosted 3 Days event, Asha Kiran- at TS Model School, Ameenabad, Chennaraopet, Warangal, Telangana on the occasion of IEEE Day 2025. 

Day 1 Commenced with great enthusiasm at 1:30 PM with the Inauguration Ceremony, where Guest Speakers, Faculty coordinators, Volunteers, School Principal, Staff and students gathered.The Ceremony included a welcome address delivered by Dr. S. Sandhya Rani, SB Counselor, who emphasized the importance of the event to the participants.

  Prof. Uma N. Dulhare, Chair, IEEE SIGHT Hyderabad section, launched the Project “Asha Kiran – Illuminate the Future through STEM” and delivered a talk on IEEE SIGHT initiatives and benefits to the Social needs.  The event aimed to provide students with exposure to emerging technologies, hands-on workshops, career guidance, and opportunities for global collaboration through IEEE programs.

The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests: Prof. Y. Vijayalata (Past Chair, IEEE Hyderabad Section),  Prof. Uma N Dulhare, Chair IEEE SIGHT Hyderabad Section,  Mr. Mahesh Nirati (Secretary, IEEE Computer Society Hyderabad Chapter), and Mr. Mohammed Azam (Secretary, IEEE YPAG, Hyderabad Section). They delivered inspiring speeches highlighting the global significance of IEEE, emerging technology trends, and the career opportunities available to students who actively engage with IEEE programs.

 The team organized an awareness program on Cyber Safety and Career guidance, aimed at educating students about online safety, the responsible use of technology, and the basics of the Internet of Things. The session highlighted practical examples of cyber threats, safe internet practices, and how IoT devices are transforming everyday life.

The Day 1 activities concluded successfully, with students and faculty expressing appreciation for the knowledge shared and the practical insights provided. The outreach session not only extended the reach of IEEE beyond the campus but also fostered awareness of technology and its safe usage among younger students.

Day 2 Jayamukhi SB Faculty coordinators and Volunteers conducted Hands on workshop on Internet of Things (IoT). Students actively participated and learned how to use IoT for home automation, Agriculture and health care using Arduino and Sensors. 

Day 3 started with IoT Project Execution,  Poster Presentation competition under STEM to STEAM activity with the theme- Heal the Earth, Cool the Globe. School students presented the posters with beautiful drawings and good solutions for the given theme excellently. We have received very good response from the students and school staff. Next we conducted the Quiz on Cyber safety and IoT workshop. Project Execution on IoT workshop also organized. 

Day 3 Ended with Certificate distribution to the winners of Poster Presentation, Quiz and Project Execution and closing ceremony by the School Principal and SB Counselor.

Prof. Uma N Dulhare, Chair, IEEE SIGHT Hyderabad Section, addressed the school students regarding IEEE SIGHT Initiatives and  STEM education. 

 She Launched ASHA KIRAN Project- Illuminating Futures Through STEM to aware the school students about advanced technologies to solve the social problems. she emphasized the IEEE SIGHT initiatives and importance and the activities to be conducted under the SIGHT.

 

Biography:

Prof. Uma N. Dulhare is currently working as a Professor & Head Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Department, MuffaKham Jah College of Engineering & Technology, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. She has more than 20 years of teaching experience. She received her Ph.D. from Osmania University, Hyderabad. She is the Editor for the six books Wiley publisher & Springer publications. She has published more than 40 research papers in reputed National & International Journals & book chapters. She is BOS member of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science and BOS member of IT of Autonomous colleges. She is also a life member of various International/National research societies viz. ISTE, IAENG (Hong Kong), UACEE & member of ACM, Fellow member of IETE,CSTA(USA),Machine Intelligence Research Lab (MIR Labs, USA), Senior member Hong Kong Society of Robotics & Automation, chapter advisor of IEEE SMC. She is a member of various National and International journals in the field of Computer Science and program committee member/reviewer for various International conferences & also chaired the sessions at various International conferences. She has received 2 Indian patent grant, 2 published and 5 International patent grants. She is also a proud recipient of the Best Computer Science Faculty, Best Professor in Computer Science, Best Academic Researcher, Teaching & Research Excellence, Outstanding Educator & Scholar and Outstanding Contribution in Research & Innovation award. Prof. Y. Vijayalata, Past Chair, IEEE Hyderabad Section, delivered a talk on career guidance to school students. She also focused on importance of  communication skills and soft skills to shine in the present competitive world. She Delivered insights on the importance of IEEE in shaping the future of technology and the opportunities available for students through IEEE membership and activities.

Biography:

     Prof.Y.Vijayalata, Dean & Professor in Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Vardhaman College of  Engineering, Hyderabad. She has been volunteering at IEEE Hyderabad Section for the past 14 years and currently immediate Past-Chair, IEEE Hyderabad Section 2023 - 2024. Also served as Treasurer at IEEE India Council 2023 – 2024. Currently serving as Member, IEEE HTB Project Monitoring & Assessment Committee since 2023.
      She was Coordinator for Section Chapter Committee, IEEE Hyderabad Section in 2022. SAC Advisor, IEEE Hyderabad Section 2022-2023. V​ice Chair, SAC, IEEE India Council ​2021-2022. Mr. Mahesh NIrati of IEEE Hyderabad Section

 Mr. Mahesh Nirati (Secretary, IEEE Computer Society Hyderabad Chapter) delivered a talk  on Cyber safety - aimed at educating students about online safety, the responsible use of technology, and the basics of the Internet of Things. The session highlighted practical examples of cyber threats, safe internet practices, cyber crime help line  numbers.

Biography:

Mr. Mahesh Nirati is a seasoned Senior Operations Engineer at RealPage , and former Operations Lead at HCLTECH, distinguished by his rich expertise in Cybersecurity and IT Service Management. Since joining the IEEE Hyderabad Section in 2018, he has made significant contributions, demonstrating his dedication and leadership within the community. Currently he is volunteering as Secretary of IEEE Computer Society Hyderabad Chapter. Throughout his tenure, Mr. Nirati has held various key positions, including Chairman of Student Activities Committee and Vice Chair of the Young Professionals Affinity Group of the IEEE Hyderabad Section in 2024, Vice Chair of Student Activities Committee of IEEE Hyderabad Section(2023-2024),Member of the IEEE R10 Section Chapter Committee (2021-2023), Editor of SYNAPSE, the IEEE Hyderabad Section Newsletter(2020-2022),and Executive Member of both the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society and the IEEE Education Society, Hyderabad Chapter(2020-2021). His earlier roles include serving as the IEEE Hyderabad Section Student Network Team Mentor in 2019, Zonal Lead at Warangal in2018, and Student Network Member in 2018.
