Power Systems Quality
As part of the IEEE Student Branch activities and under the supervision of the Power and Energy Society (PES), a scientific workshop titled “Power System Quality” was successfully held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, in room B516.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Fouad Al-Zrou, who provided valuable insights into the concept of power quality, its importance in modern electrical systems, and the main factors affecting the stability and efficiency of power networks.
During the session, participants explored practical topics such as voltage fluctuations, harmonics, and power disturbances, along with modern solutions and techniques to improve power quality in industrial and residential systems.
🌟 The attendees gained a deeper understanding of how to analyze and mitigate power system issues using advanced tools and technologies.
The IEEE Student Branch extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Fouad Al-Zrou for his exceptional contribution and to all the participating students for their active engagement and enthusiasm throughout the session. 💚

Power Systems Quality
ensuring the stability and efficiency of electrical networks. He explained how various disturbances—such as voltage sags, harmonic distortion, and transient fluctuations—can negatively affect the performance and lifespan of electrical equipment. Dr. Al-Zaro also highlighted modern methods for analyzing and improving power quality, including the use of monitoring devices, filters, and advanced control systems. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high power quality standards to enhance energy efficiency, reduce losses, and ensure the reliability of both industrial and residential electrical systems.
