IEEE IUB Student Branch Celebrates 15th Anniversary on IEEE Day 2025

The IEEE IUB Student Branch of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) celebrated its 15th anniversary in conjunction with the global IEEE Day 2025 on October 13, 2025, at IUB. The event commemorated the branch’s establishment, highlighting its contributions to student research and technological engagement and encouraging collaboration among IEEE chapters. The program featured speeches, a campus rally, and interactive sessions organized by the branch and its associated chapters and affinity groups.

Prof. Dr. M. Abdur Razzak, founder and mentor of the IEEE IUB Student Branch, attended the program as the Chief Guest. Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, Branch Counselor of IEEE IUB Student Branch and Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, delivered the welcome remarks. He encouraged students to remain active in IEEE initiatives and strengthen connections with other university branches across Bangladesh.

Speakers included Dr. Md. Kafiul Islam, Faculty Advisor of IEEE IUB Industry Applications Society; Dr. Kh. Shahriya Zaman, Faculty Advisor of IEEE IUB Robotics and Automation Society; and Dr. Afroza Sultana, Faculty Advisor of IEEE IUB Women in Engineering Affinity Group. Mr. Atif M. Safi, Head of the Division of Student Activities, also addressed the audience.

All IEEE IUB Student Branch chapters and affinity groups, including the Power & Energy Society, Photonics Society, Industry Applications Society, Robotics & Automation Society, Women in Engineering Affinity Group, and Computer Society, participated in the event. The program concluded with a campus rally and cake-cutting ceremony marking the milestone.

The event was coordinated by Md. Mosiur Rahman Shadhin, Student Advisor of the IEEE IUB Student Branch. The celebration reaffirmed the branch’s continued commitment to advancing student participation in technological development and professional growth through IEEE’s global network.
