Organized by the IEEE SSCS Central Illinois Section, this event is part of the SSCS INSPIRE Program (Introducing Students to the Power of ICs through Research and Exploration), an outreach initiative by the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society designed to inspire high school students to explore careers in Integrated Circuits [IC] and Semiconductors. Metamora Township High School will host Dustin Henderson from IEEE, who will discuss the vital role electrical engineering plays in advancing the technology we use daily and why it can be a rewarding and impactful career. The speaker will share how his journey, from growing up on a farm to pursuing a passion for electronics, led him to a thriving career in IC design. The presentation will also highlight the future potential enabled by Integrated Circuit [IC] technologies. Students will learn how electrical engineering connects to other fields and everyday life, the educational path to becoming an engineer, and what a typical day in the field looks like.

Biography:

Dustin Henderson is a young electrical engineer specializing in Integrated Circuit [IC] with a quickly advancing career at Forward Edge AI and is highly respected. Dustin is from Madras, Oregon, where he grew up on his family's 80-acre farm. He raised lambs for 4-H, which helped pay for his engineering studies at the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) in Klamath Falls, OR. Dustin has worked hard to earn his education and to overcome his learning disability, Dyslexia. To accommodate his disability, he used technology and tools early on, which sparked his love for technology. Dustin loves that his engineering career enables him to consistently learn new skills and apply them to designing and building new products
