The IEEE Nanotechnology Council (NTC) CBIT Student Branch Chapter will be inaugurated at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (Autonomous) on 28th October 2025, under the Department of Computer Engineering & Technology.

Dr. C. Thirmal, Chair, IEEE Nanotechnology Society, Hyderabad Section, will grace the event as the Chief Guest and will share valuable insights on the growing impact of nanotechnology in computing, electronics, and material sciences.

The chapter will focus on advancing research and development in nanotechnology, encouraging students to explore nanoscale innovations that shape the future of sustainable and intelligent systems. It will provide a collaborative environment for students to learn, innovate, and engage in IEEE’s global nanotechnology initiatives through workshops, research activities, and technical events.

This inauguration will mark CBIT’s entry into the forefront of nanotechnology-driven innovation, paving the way for students to become active contributors in cutting-edge scientific and engineering domains.

Dr.C.THIRMAL

Biography:

Dr. C. Thirmal

Chair, IEEE Nanotechnology Council – Hyderabad Section
Assistant Professor of Physics, VNRVJIET, Hyderabad

Dr. C. Thirmal holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at IIT Delhi. He obtained his M.Sc. in Physics from Osmania University, securing University 3rd Rank in 2010.

His research interests span Nano-ferroelectrics, Piezoelectrics, Magnetoelectrics, Photovoltaics, Battery Materials, IPMCs, and Nanomaterials for soft-robotic sensors and actuators. He has published 38 international research papers with over 450 citations and an h-index of 12.

Dr. Thirmal has been awarded several prestigious research grants, including projects from DST-SERB (TARE) and DRDO, collectively exceeding ₹30 lakhs, focusing on smart materials and advanced battery development. His Ph.D. work also earned him a patent.

He has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences and has actively contributed to IEEE, serving as Secretary (2022–24) and currently as Chair of the IEEE Nanotechnology Council, Hyderabad Section.

With extensive academic and research experience, Dr. Thirmal continues to inspire young engineers and scientists toward innovation in nanotechnology and advanced materials.
