ONE MORE DAY LEFT TO BE PART OF OUR BLOOD DRIVE.

To those who have already supported our blood drive by donating, attending, or talking to the public about IEEE, thank you for showing up!

It is not too late to give blood -- our blood drive at Inova Blood Donor Services – Woodburn Medical Center officially ends tomorrow.

🩸 Preparing for your appointment:

  • 🥤Hydrate well! Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your donation. Being well-hydrated makes your veins easier to find and helps prevent lightheadedness.

  • 🍲 Eat a good meal: Have a balanced meal 2–3 hours before donating, rich in iron (spinach, red meat, beans, fortified cereals).

  • 🛌 Get a good night’s sleep: Being well-rested supports healthy blood volume and recovery.

  • 🪪 Bring your ID to the appointment!

  • 👕 Wear short sleeves or sleeves that can be rolled up easily to make donating more comfortable.

 

During Donation:

  • 🧘 Relax! Breathe normally, and chat with staff if you feel nervous.

  • ⌚️ The donation itself only takes about 10 minutes; the whole process takes 45–60 minutes including screening and rest.

 

Afterward:

  • 🍪🧃 Rest for a few minutes and enjoy the snacks and drinks provided.

  • 🥤 Keep hydrating for the next 24 hours and avoid alcohol.

  • ⛔️ Skip strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for the rest of the day.

  • ❤️‍🩹  Leave the bandage on for a few hours to prevent bruising.
