Komal Kadam is a recent Master of Engineering graduate from Stevens. Ms Kadam completed a very interesting final project directed at making the process of job search easy; she will speak about this project.

Building Scalable, Human-Centered AI Systems: Lessons from The Job World

Abstract

The Job World is an AI-powered platform that streamlines job applications. It structures resume data, analyzes job descriptions, ranks opportunities, and tracks applications. A job crawler aggregates openings from the top 100 companies, enabling candidates to apply efficiently. Key features include a resume builder, personalized job recommendations, resume tailoring, cover letter and cold email generation, a browser extension for automated applications, and AI-driven interview preparation.

The speaker will share insights gained while developing The Job World, an AI-driven system that streamlines the job application process by transforming unstructured, user-generated data into structured, actionable intelligence. While the platform automates tasks such as resume interpretation, semantic matching, and personalized document generation, the underlying techniques draw heavily on natural language processing and are broadly applicable to domains involving noisy inputs and contextual relevance evaluation. This talk explores how transformer-based NLP models can assess candidate job fit, how personalized outputs can be generated responsibly, and how browser level automation can reduce repetitive effort. Attendees will learn how to build scalable AI pipelines using Python and Flask, evaluate retrieval and ranking performance in real world systems, and apply iterative development informed by user feedback. The session emphasizes practical strategies for designing AI systems that deliver measurable impact through thoughtful engineering and human-centered design.

Bio:

Komal Kadam is a recent Master’s graduate in Engineering Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. She is the co-founder and CEO of The Job World, which won 2nd place in a hackathon and was showcased at the Stevens AI Innovation Showcase. She also participated in TiE U, reaching the regional finals. She has two years of experience as a Data Analyst and is passionate about applying data-driven solutions to real-world problems.

Ms Kadam has subsequently formed a start-up, and it reached finals in TiE competition.
