WIP - Technical Visit – Serra da Palmeira Wind Complex
As part of the Women in Power (WiP) initiative, the technical visit provided students and participants with a hands-on learning experience in renewable energy generation. The activity aimed to connect theoretical knowledge from the classroom with real-world applications in the wind power industry.
EN: The Technical Visit to the Serra da Palmeira Wind Complex allowed participants to explore the main operational and engineering aspects of wind power generation. The group was guided through the facilities, learning about the operation of wind turbines, electrical systems, protection schemes, and monitoring processes used to ensure efficiency and reliability in power delivery.
In addition to the technical insights, the visit promoted discussions about career opportunities in the renewable energy sector, highlighting the importance of sustainability and the participation of women in the energy transition. This activity was part of the Women in Power 2025 program, reinforcing the commitment of IEEE PES UFCG to practical learning and professional development in the field of electrical engineering.
PT-BR: Durante a Visita Técnica ao Complexo Eólico Serra da Palmeira, os participantes puderam conhecer de perto o funcionamento de um sistema de geração eólica. A visita abordou aspectos como o princípio de operação das turbinas, sistemas elétricos, esquemas de proteção e processos de monitoramento utilizados para garantir eficiência e segurança na geração e transmissão de energia.
Além do aprendizado técnico, a atividade também buscou estimular o interesse por carreiras no setor de energias renováveis, destacando o papel da sustentabilidade e o protagonismo feminino na engenharia elétrica. A ação integrou a programação do Women in Power 2025, reforçando o compromisso do IEEE PES UFCG com a formação prática e o desenvolvimento profissional dos estudantes.
