Serving as an officer provides a valuable opportunity to shape your group’s direction while developing strong leadership and collaboration skills.

To support you in your new role, the IEEE Richmond Section will host an in-person Officer Training Session on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at VCU.

Parking costs will need to be covered individually.

• Understanding how your IEEE group fits within the overall IEEE structure — and why it matters

• Key officer responsibilities and where to find further training resources

• What officers can do, must do, and must not do — including nonprofit compliance essentials

• IEEE funding processes and how to access local group funds

• Essential first steps when assuming your new role

• Tools and systems for managing group activities

• Best practices for membership recruitment and retention

• Where to seek help and guidance when new questions arise

Allen Jones will be leading the training for this session. Jayanna, Suhas, and I will also be available and assisting throughout the event, along with Radhika.
