Quantum Applications in the Real World: Quarks Interactive - Education and engagement through quantum games on mobile devices
Quantum Applications in the Real World: Quarks Interactive
Quantum Hub @ Politehnica University of Timișoara, together with the local ecosystem (Equal1, Eviden, Nokia, ABQ.Institute), is building a strong and active community in the region in the fields of quantum computing and quantum communications.
To get to know each other better, understand the directions in the industry and their real impact, we are launching a series of open events around the Quantum Computing master's degree at the Polytechnic University of Timișoara: Quantum Applications in the Real World.
The first event is dedicated to a Romanian startup, Quarks Interactive, which created the first educational game on quantum computing founded by Laurențiu Niță.

Quarks Interactive is a pioneering startup in the field of quantum computing, dedicated to making quantum education accessible to everyone. Founded by Laurențiu Niță, Quarks Interactive has been at the forefront of combining advanced scientific learning with interactive games. The startup is part of the Seedblink portfolio and is one of the first companies to be funded in the midst of the pandemic lockdown.
The company's flagship product, Quantum Odyssey, has been recognized as a revolutionary tool in quantum education, building a bridge between complex quantum computing concepts and practical, engaging learning experiences.

Agenda
In the first event, we present Quarks Interactive! A Romanian startup that democratizes quantum literacy through video games—transforming concepts such as qubits, superposition, and measurement into visual puzzles accessible to children as young as 12, without code or advanced mathematics. Their flagship product, Quantum Odyssey, has undergone years of development and is now available on Steam, while the mobile version, Quantum Odyssey: Essentials, is available for free on the Apple Store and Google Play, as an entry point into quantum computing for the general public. The company's vision is for "Quantum Literacy" to become as widespread as "Computer Literacy" through scientifically rigorous but playful tools that can be used in schools, universities, and training programs. Founder Laurențiu Niță—with experience at the intersection of engineering, business, and educational game design—leads the mission to lower barriers to entry into the field and rapidly expand the talent base for the industry, including through collaborations with universities and tech communities. Essentially, Quarks Interactive shows that quantum learning can be engaging, scalable, and relevant to real careers, not just for specialists.
This is a mini-series of 5-6 public courses within the "Quantum applications in the real world" module, part of the Quantum Computing master's program coordinated by Professor Mihai Udrescu.
The module "Quantum applications in the real world" is coordinated by Dr. Val Mureșan at the Polytechnic University of Timișoara. Our guests are founders, GMs, and experts from companies active in the quantum vertical. They will present real applications, lessons learned, and the next steps for industry, education, and startups.
