The IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter at IIT Kanpur was delighted to host an insightful online talk by Prof. Asheesh Kumar Singh from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad. The session, held on October 6, 2025, focused on "Getting Ready for IEEE Day 2025 – Instructions & Celebration Plan."

Biography:
Prof. Asheesh K Singh (M’08, SM’13) is a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at MNNIT Allahabad, Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh). As a Senior Member of the IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section, his notable contributions included roles in IEEE India Council: as Vice-chair, Strategic Planning (2023), Vice-chair, Section/ Sub-section coordination (2021, 2022), and IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section: as Chairman, Award Committee (2024), Chair, Section PELS Chapter (2023, 2024), Chair, Joint Society Chapter (PELS/IES/CS) (2020, 2021) Chairman, Nomination Committee (2021, 2022, 2023), Section Chair (2019, 2020), Section Vice-Chair (2017, 2018), Convenor, SIGHT (2015, 2016), Secretary, IEEE PES Chapter (2014), Convener, Educational Activities Committee (2013), Chapter Coordinator, Joint Society Chapter (PELS/IES/CS (2011, 2012).
Prof. Singh has delivered over 70 lectures at national and international forums and supervised 21 PhD research scholars and 61 MTech thesis students and secured over INR 1.8 Crore in research funding from various agencies. His extensive contributions to the field make him a distinguished academic and researcher in sustainable energy and power systems.
