The IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group of the University of Jaffna is delighted to host an enlightening tech talk on “Data Analytics and Data Governance in the AI Era.” This session, led by Ms. Ilhavanchi Kanaganayagam, Director at Webtegy and a seasoned professional with an MBA in IT and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, will offer valuable perspectives on the evolving role of data in shaping the AI-driven future. Biography:

Ms. Ilhavanchi Kanaganayagam is a highly accomplished data governance and analytics specialist with over 15 years of professional experience driving digital transformation across the financial services sector. Based in Canada, she has built an exceptional career in Enterprise Data Management, contributing her expertise to leading financial institutions including BMO Financial Group, RBC, and Scotiabank. She currently serves as a Senior IT Business Consultant at BMO, where she plays a pivotal role in Capital Markets Data Governance, ensuring data integrity, compliance, and strategic alignment across enterprise systems.

In addition to her corporate leadership, Ilhavanchi is the Director of WebTegy, a consulting firm specializing in enterprise data governance, data analytics, and digital enablement. Her work spans FinTech domains such as capital markets, wealth management, and large-scale data transformation initiatives. She has also contributed to diverse international projects, including the Singapore Back Office Migration Project for CIMB Securities.

Ms. Ilhavanchi holds an impressive academic background, including an MBA in Information Technology from the University of Moratuwa, where she graduated with an outstanding GPA of 4.04/4.2, and a professional certification in Enterprise Data Analytics from the University of Toronto. Known for her exceptional communication skills, she has presented at international research conferences in the United States and continues to engage with global innovation communities, most notably as a contributor and judge for NASA Space Apps Toronto.
