BMSCE IEEE SB - Value added Course -End-to-End DevOps Lifecycle: Version Control, C1/CD, Docker, and IaC - Day 4
Collaborating club/organization: The Department of Computer Science Engineering (IoT, Cybersecurity, Blockchain) and the Department of Computer Science Engineering in collaboration with the BMSCE IEEE Student Branch, the Sensored Club and the <CodeIO/>
Brief Summary: Mr. Kratharth Hegde led an interactive workshop where students engaged in hands-on activities involving branching, merging, and resolving conflicts in Git. The session explored scenarios such as feature branching, hotfix management, and release versioning. Students also learned how to push local changes to GitHub, create pull requests, and review code. Additionally, collaboration tools like GitHub issues and discussions were introduced. Real-time examples made the concepts easier to grasp, showing how version control plays a crucial role in team-based software development.
Outcomes: Students developed proficiency in advanced Git operations and GitHub-based collaboration. They gained confidence in managing team workflows, handling merge conflicts, and understanding collaborative development processes. These skills will aid them in contributing to open-source projects and adapting to industry-level software practices.
