As part of the IEEE Day celebrations at Rajalakshmi Engineering College, the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, in collaboration with the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS), organized an innovative competition titled “IEEE Breadths 2025 – MedRoboQuest” on 17th October 2025.

 Event Overview

The competition aimed to encourage students to innovate simple technological solutions for real-world healthcare problems using the power of robotics and automation. Each team comprised 2–3 members, with one female member compulsory, promoting inclusivity and women’s active participation in technology-driven challenges.

Agenda

 The event featured three rounds, each designed to assess technical skills, creativity, and communication abilities:

·   Round 1 – Knowledge Round (Paper-Pen Test):
Participants answered questions based on healthcare technology, robotics, and “what-if” problem scenarios to evaluate their fundamental understanding.

·   Round 2 – Pitching Round:
Shortlisted teams were provided with a product and asked to pitch innovative ideas to enhance or reimagine its use in the healthcare sector. This round focused on their presentation and pitching skills.

·   Round 3 – Problem Statement Round:
In the final round, teams were given specific healthcare problem statements and 20 minutes to prepare a presentation proposing a feasible tech-based solution.
