STEM Programme at Sek Men Kebangsaan Pangkalan TLDM Lumut
Yayasan Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) organized STEM Education Programme for the children of Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) personnel in collaboration with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and IEEE Sensors and Nanotechnology Council Malaysia Joint Chapter at SMK Pangkalan TLDM, Lumut, as part of its ongoing effort to expand access to quality education. The programme involved 60 Form Two and Form Three students who participated in an interactive Snap Circuit workshop conducted by the USM team. The workshop introduced students to the basic principles of electronics through hands-on, experiential learning. Using Snap Circuit kits, students explored electronic components, circuit assembly, and system functionality in an engaging and easy-to-understand manner. The primary objective of the programme was to stimulate early interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) while strengthening students’ analytical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The initiative also aimed to connect theoretical knowledge with practical application, enabling students to gain a clearer understanding of how electronics are applied in everyday technologies.. Overall, the programme successfully enhanced STEM awareness, inspired curiosity in technology, and reinforced the strategic collaboration between Yayasan LTAT and USM and SNCM in nurturing future STEM talent.
