Deep Learning Overview

  • Definition: Deep learning is a subset of ML using multi-layered artificial neural networks inspired by the human brain to solve complex problems.

  • Data Types:

    • Linear Data: Data without interruptions or "breakage"

    • Non-linear Data: Data with irregularities or "breakage"

  • Architectural Categories:

    • Supervised/discriminative deep learning

    • Unsupervised/generative deep learning

    • Hybrid deep architectures

  • Model Types: Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN)

  • Applications: Image recognition, healthcare, natural language processing

  • Execution Steps: Dataset preparation, algorithm application, and model evaluation to prevent overfitting


Practical Hands-on Session

  • Implementation: Participants applied ML models directly within MATLAB.

  • Guidance: Dr. Sana provided instructions on dataset manipulation, coding, and model execution.
