Power electronics is an enabling technology that plays a crucial role in providing impactful and sustainable solutions for these energy transitions. In Denise's current role, she wears many hats varying from power electronics engineer, technical project leader, and technology strategist. In this session, Denise will share what it means to navigate and contribute to today's evolving energy landscape through this lens.

Denise

Biography:

Denise Athaide is a Senior Power Electronics Technical Specialist within the Advanced Electrification Technologies group in the Corporate Research and Technology organization at Cummins Inc. She is passionate about tackling climate change through innovation and strategically solving challenging problems to advance clean energy technologies.


For the past seven years, Denise has been contributing to electrification efforts at Cummins through analysis-led design, model-based technology development, hardware validation, and technology strategy of power electronic converters and controls for distributed generation, off-highway, and commercial vehicle applications. She also leads power electronics platforming, road mapping, and sensing efforts, as well as engagement with academia-industry-government consortia.


Denise holds a Master of Science degree from Arizona State University, where her research focused on the crossover of power electronics and power systems, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Mumbai. In her spare time, Denise enjoys gardening, pottery, traveling, hiking trails, and camping. She also engages with Society of Women Engineers through local chapter leadership, STEM outreach, and mentorship.
