IoT-Fog-Cloud: Foundation to ML Perspective for High Performance Computing
The convergence of Internet of Things (IoT), Fog, and Cloud computing establishes a transformative foundation for high-performance computing (HPC) in the era of machine learning (ML). IoT devices generate massive, heterogeneous data streams requiring real-time processing, while Fog computing extends computational resources closer to the edge, reducing latency and bandwidth constraints. Cloud platforms, in turn, provide scalable infrastructure for intensive ML workloads and large-scale data analytics. This layered architecture enables seamless integration of distributed intelligence, where Fog nodes perform preliminary data filtering and lightweight ML inference, and Cloud systems handle complex model training and global optimization. Such synergy enhances responsiveness, efficiency, and adaptability across domains including smart cities, healthcare, and industrial automation. By bridging IoT-Fog-Cloud ecosystems with ML-driven HPC, organizations can achieve robust performance, improved decision-making, and sustainable scalability, paving the way for intelligent, resource-optimized applications in next-generation computing environments.
