Role of AI in Neuroscience
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming neuroscience by providing advanced computational tools to analyze, interpret, and model the brain’s complexity. Modern neuroscience generates vast amounts of data from neuroimaging, electrophysiology, and behavioral studies, which traditional methods struggle to process. AI, particularly machine learning and deep learning, enables the discovery of hidden patterns, prediction of neural activity, and improved diagnosis of neurological disorders.
This talk will highlight three major areas where AI is making an impact: data analysis, where algorithms enhance understanding of brain imaging and signals; brain–machine interfaces, which foster communication between neural systems and external devices for applications such as prosthetics and rehabilitation; and cognitive modeling, where AI simulates brain functions to explore memory, perception, and decision‑making. Ethical challenges and interpretability issues will also be discussed. By bridging computational intelligence with biology, AI is reshaping neuroscience and paving the way for personalized medicine.
