This IEEE Distinguished Lecturer (DL) talk will be delivered by Dr. Kumar Vijay Mishra, IEEE Aerospace & Electronic Systems Society (AESS) Distinguished Lecturer.

The lecture focuses on recent advances in Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC), emphasizing distributed and collaborative sensing and wireless communication systems. Topics include mm-Wave and THz technologies, vehicular and automotive environments, and architectures for sensor fusion and heterogeneous radar–communication co-design.

This event is organized by the IEEE University of the South Pacific (USP) Student Branch, with technical relevance to AESS, VTS, and GRSS communities.

Dr. Kumar Vijay Mishra of United States DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory

Signal Processing for Integrated Sensing and Communications

Dr. Kumar Vijay Mishra is an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer with expertise in radar systems, signal processing, and integrated sensing and communications (ISAC). His research spans radar–communications co-design, mm-Wave and THz systems, and distributed sensing architectures for automotive and aerospace applications.

Biography:

Dr. Kumar Vijay Mishra (S’08–M’15–SM’18) received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and M.S. in Mathematics from The University of Iowa in 2015, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University in 2012. He is currently a Research Scientist at the Institute for Systems Research, University of Maryland, College Park, and serves as Technical Adviser to an automotive radar start-up.

Dr. Mishra has held research positions at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, Qualcomm, and Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. He has served as an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer for multiple societies including AESS, ComSoc, GRSS, and VTS. His research interests include radar systems, signal processing, integrated sensing and communications, and electromagnetics. He is a recipient of several IEEE and international awards and actively contributes to IEEE technical committees and journals.
