Biography:
Thiru Ragul K is a 2012-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Sikkim cadre, presently serving as Regional Director, Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Southern Region, Chennai. He brings with him a rich blend of administrative, technical, and corporate experience across diverse sectors.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, Shri Ragul holds a PGDM in Finance and Operations, in addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Geo-Informatics Engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University. Prior to joining the IAS, he worked with ISRO, Cognizant Technology Solutions, and Reliance Industries Limited, gaining exposure in remote sensing, database management, and financial operations.
During his administrative career, Shri Ragul has served in key field and leadership positions in Sikkim, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, and District Collector and Magistrate of both South and East Sikkim districts. He played a significant role in the conduct of General, Municipal, and Panchayat elections, disaster management, and the COVID-19 pandemic response. As Managing Director of the Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union, he led institutional reforms, implemented GST systems, and strengthened market outreach.
He has also served as Special Secretary (Finance) and Secretary, Labour Department, Government of Sikkim, where he contributed to budget preparation, financial management system development, and digitisation of labour and establishment services. Known for his systems-oriented approach and strong field experience, Shri Ragul continues to contribute to public service through the efficient conduct of national-level examinations at the SSC.
