3. Event Overview

The IEEE STEP Young Professionals Mentorship and Networking Forum was successfully held on February 17, 2025, at UET Faisalabad. The event aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry reality. It provided attendees with insights into semiconductor chip design, career paths after graduation, and direct mentorship opportunities with seasoned professionals and academics.

4. Agenda & Proceedings

The event proceeded according to the following schedule:

  • 11:00 - 11:05: Welcome and Introduction to IEEE Young Professionals

    • Speaker: Prof. Dr. Saima Akram (Dean, Faculty of Computing and Numerical Sciences at GCWUF)

    • Duration: 10 minutes

    • Summary: Dr. Saima welcomed the attendees and provided a brief introduction to the IEEE Young Professionals group, highlighting its importance for recent graduates.

  • 11:05 - 11:35: Technical Talk: Semiconductor Chip Design

    • Speaker: Rana Azhar Shaheen (Founder & RF/mmWave IC Design Consultant, RF-AZIC, France)

    • Duration: 30 minutes

    • Summary: The expert speaker delivered a comprehensive session on advanced RF front-end design, including LNAs, PAs, and Transceivers. He shared insights into the industry standards in Europe and the future of semiconductor technology.

  • 11:35 - 11:47: Life After Graduation: A YP’s Perspective (Session 1)

    • Activity: The organizing team delivered closing remarks. Shields and souvenirs were distributed to the guest speakers and mentors as a token of appreciation from IEEE Young Professionals.

  • 12:50 PM Onwards: Networking & Refreshments

    • Activity: The session concluded with light refreshments, enabling informal networking among students and mentors.
