The presentation will include a review of ground based telescopes around the world plus the benefits on the new Vera C. Rubin Telescope in Chile.  Scott Atkinson will lead the discussion.  He has had the privilege of visiting some major telescopes (Lick Observatory, MacDonald Observatory and SOFIA) plus has knowledge of others.

Biography:

Bio
T. Scott Atkinson has visited the following telescopes: McDonald Observatory (2 times), the Lick Observatory  (2 times) on Mount Hamilton California, and NASA's SOFIA flying telescope which was based out of Palmdale Airport, California. Plus he has had personal contact with Mr. Bernie Walp, a telescope operator at Lick Observatory, Apache Point Observatory in New Mexico, the NASA IRTF (Infrared Telescope Facility) on Mauna Kea in Hawaii plus others.  Bernie has extensive knowledge of telescopes and is planning on visiting Chile telescopes this year.
