Vineet Kumar: Global Banking Infrastructures: FX Trading

Careers in Technology Live Event

Abstract:
This presentation analyzes the foreign exchange (FX) market—the world’s largest and most liquid financial market, and how modern banking systems process and settle FX trades securely at scale.
It outlines the end-to-end FX trade lifecycle. A key focus is mitigating Herstatt risk via bilateral and multilateral netting solutions such as CLSNet. The presentation compares real-time retail payment infrastructures like India’s UPI and the U.S. Zelle network to illustrate evolving customer-facing rails. It further explores modernization via cloud native architectures, Distributed Ledger Technology, AI-driven fraud detection, cybersecurity by design, and zero data loss resilient post-trade systems.
