Open Source FPGA Projects Roundtable
Zoom call hosted by Open Research Institute (ORI). IEEE members and guests are welcome. This is a technical roundtable of FPGA projects from the Open Source hardware community. Participants report what they've done over the past week, what they have planned for the next week, if they have any roadblocks, and if they need any resources. The roundtable is sometimes followed by open office hours if anyone has additional questions or discussions.

AMSAT-UK support for MDT SIC design. Next concrete steps for MDT SIC: Build or acquire Martin's dynamic-transponder board. Martin indicated he was moving forward with a board build, but we do not know the schedule for this. So, we decided to prototype this with an equivalent iCE40UP5K and STM32H7 setup. We bought a NUCLEO-H753ZI and an ICE40UP5K-B-EVN from Newark. We will synthesize our polyphase channelizer for iCE40UP5K, write STM32 firmware for SPI data transfer and magnitude computation, and then test with real RF (or at least injected I/Q test vectors). Maybe we can demonstrate this in June at Friedrichshafen? We have asked if AMSAT-UK folks will be there.
- ORI will be at RF Village at BSides San Diego, CA, USA 4 April 2026
- European Space Agency (ESA) FutureGEO presentations will be held at HAMRADIO 2026, Friedrichshafen, Germany in June
- Artemis2 tracking efforts?
- Open discussion and office hours, Q&A
