Biography:

Pragathi Prema Kumar

Pragathi is a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Qualcomm Innovation Center, where her work is focused on Core Services and Multiprocessor Linux driver development for the Core Platform Team.  Her career expands in many roles and expertise, like white-box (API level) and black-box (system level) testing along with a strong background in mobile operating systems, like Qualcomm MDM products.

Additionally, she still makes quality contributions to IEEE’s mission by fostering innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity through community outreach in roles, like Vice-Chair for the IEEE Computer Society, and Vice-Chair of the local Women in Engineering affinity group.

Her global reach began in India, where she earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication degree at the esteemed Visvesvaraya Technological University.  During her undergraduate studies, she interned at Inventeron Technologies and Business Solutions, Robert BOSCH, and at the Indian Space Research Organization Satellite Centre.

After graduating she moved across the globe to the University of Texas, Arlington (UTA) where she enrolled in EE graduate studies, and she was quickly hired by UTA’s Civil Engineering Lab as a research assistant.  Then, Pragathi transitioned to the university’s Research Institute to conduct biomedical technology work. After earning her Masters in EE, Pragathi’s commitment, qualifications and value was recognized by the renowned Qualcomm in San Diego, where she has held several Senior Engineering roles since 2019.

Her passion for the future of engineering and young engineers keeps Pragathi fostering professional development, ambassador roles and mentoring within IEEE as well as outside of it.  For example, she has served as an ambassador to firstnaukri.com, and as a peer advisor at UTA.  Additionally, writes, presents and has had her papers published by IEEE, like the “CCSDS Packet Telemetry” and more.
