Upcoming Talk: Floating Solar PV: An Emerging Technology and its Potential Role in our Energy System
This event is co-hosted by the IEEE PES Providence and Boston Chapters. Virtual attendees may access the Zoom link in the event details. An in-person attendance option is also available at Wentworth Institute of Technology for those in the Boston area.
Floating solar PV (FPV) is the application of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules on bodies of water. While this technology has been deployed extensively in Asia and other parts of the world, it is still a niche part of the solar industry in North America. This presentation will cover the fundamentals of FPV: what it is, what its benefits are, what its challenges are, and what we still need to understand. Come learn about floating solar, hear about real-world projects, and discover what role it could play in our global and local energy systems.
