Robothon
The Robothon was one of the most exciting and technically intensive events of R&D EXPO 2026. Designed to test participants’ robotics knowledge, hardware integration skills, and problem-solving abilities, the event provided a platform for students to showcase innovation in automation and intelligent systems.
The competition focused on practical implementation, where participants were required to design and operate robots capable of completing specific tasks within a structured arena.
Event Structure
Participants competed in teams and were assigned a defined robotic challenge, which involved navigating obstacles, performing specific movements, or completing assigned objectives within a time limit.
The event consisted of the following stages:
Stage 1 – Setup & Inspection:
• Teams assembled and tested their robots.
• Judges inspected hardware compliance and safety measures.
Stage 2 – Trial Round:
• Teams were given a short trial attempt to understand the arena layout.
• Minor adjustments to programming or hardware were allowed.
Stage 3 – Final Run:
• Robots were required to complete the assigned task within the stipulated time.
• Performance was judged based on accuracy, speed, stability, and task completion.
Evaluation Criteria
Robots were evaluated based on:
• Task completion efficiency
• Time taken
• Design innovation
• Stability and control
• Technical implementation
Bonus points were awarded for smooth navigation and creative design approaches.
