The Murder Mystery was one of the most thrilling and intellectually engaging events of R&D 2026. Designed as a live investigative challenge, the event tested participants’ analytical reasoning, observation skills, and teamwork through an immersive problem-solving experience.

The event began with the announcement of a fictional crime scenario. Multiple clues were strategically placed across different classrooms, and teams were required to analyze each clue carefully to piece together the sequence of events.

A total of four suspects were introduced in the storyline. Each suspect had a defined background, motive, and possible connection to the crime, making the investigation complex and engaging.

Investigation Format

• Each team was given 5 minutes per suspect.
• Teams were allowed to ask 5 questions to each suspect.
• Questions had to be precise and strategic, as no additional time was provided.
• Clues collected during the investigation had to be logically connected to narrow down possibilities.

The questioning round required participants to think critically and identify inconsistencies in statements. Teams had to coordinate effectively to decide which questions would extract the most useful information.

Final Round

After a total duration of 2 hours, each team was required to:

• Present their reconstructed storyline of the crime
• Explain how the clues supported their theory
• Identify the murderer with proper justification

Judging was based on logical consistency, clarity of explanation, use of clues, and accuracy in identifying the culprit.
