Topic:

Careers in Electromagnetics at the Skunk Works

Abstract: This presentation will begin with an introduction to the Lockheed Martin Corporation and its four Business Areas: Space, Rotary and Mission Systems, Missiles and Fire Control, and Aeronautics. Next, I will give the audience an overview of the career opportunities available at the Skunk Works for electrical engineers. We will wrap up with questions and answers, and I will share the points of contact for those interested in Internships and / or full employment with the Skunk Works and Lockheed Martin.

Biography:

Bio: Dr. Courtney is a Technical Fellow with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics (LMA) Skunk Works® in Palmdale, California. In his time with LMA he has worked with low observable antennas, characterized the electromagnetic properties of materials, performed RADAR Cross Section measurements of complex targets and is currently the technology domain lead for the Predictions and Measurements thrust for the Signature Management and Survivability group. Previously, Dr. Courtney was a Senior Design engineer for Voss Scientific in Albuquerque, NM. There, he developed antennas and microwave components in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Directed Energy Directorate / High Power Microwaves (HPM) division. Dr. Courtney received BSEE and MSEE degrees from the University of South Carolina (the original USC), and a PhD degree from Clemson University.
