Engineering Ethics

  • The study of the general nature of morals and of the specific moral choices to be made by a person’s moral philosophy
  • The rules or standards governing the conduct of a person or the members of a profession organization ethics
  • Encompasses the more general definition of ethics, but applied it more specifically to situations involving engineers in their professional lives.
  • Engineering ethics often involves choices on an organizational level rather than personal level.
  • Review the existing NJ statutes governing professional licensed practices and how these statutes incorporate ethical rules of conduct;
  • Present case studies of current headlines that could have ethical aspects
  • Conclude with a general discussion of professional ethics in a global economy including the impact of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act on engineers (e.g., the Anti-bribery Provisions)

Engineering Ethics

Biography:

Constantinos Papademas PE,  Constantinos is a licensed professional engineer with 35 years of teaching experience in the areas of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical systems. He is a licensed electrical contractor, electrical inspector, sub-code official, HVACR contractor and a plumbing contractor. He is also a member of the NJ State Board of examiners of Electrical Contractors.

Agenda

This Engineering Ethics session will immediately follow our regularly scheduled monthly session.  These will both require separate registrations.  There will be a fee for ALL participants.  

The cost for ALL participants will be $160.

Two hours of instruction will be provided.
