This lecture will present the key findings of the SE Europe Energy Outlook 2025/2026, a comprehensive regional study examining the evolving energy landscape of Southeast Europe. The presentation will analyse the structural characteristics of the region’s energy system, ongoing market transformation, energy security challenges, decarbonisation pressures, and long-term investment prospects exceeding €700 billion by 2035. Particular emphasis will be placed on the region’s geopolitical complexity, its gradual integration into EU energy frameworks, and the implications of different development scenarios (WEM, WAM, Net Zero). The lecture will provide strategic insights into how Southeast Europe balances the Energy Trilemma—security, affordability and sustainability—within a rapidly changing global energy environment.
