 IEEE-WIE - Encounter with Dr. Elise Fear

Well known University of Calgary Professor and Associate Head, Dr. Elise Fear  will meet  us in a session to share her story, professional and personal journey, including the challenges she has faced and the experiences that have inspired her. 

IEEE Women in Engineering invite you to participate and join us for a relaxed mixer with networking opportunity. Light food and drinks will be served.

Dr. Elise Fear

Dr. Elise Fear (Professor and Associate Head)

Biography:

Dr. Elise Fear obtained her B.A. Sc from Waterloo University in 1995 in System Design Engineering. She continue her studies and obtained her Master Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997 from Victoria University. Later in 2001, she completed her PhD in Electrical Engineering also in Victoria University.

Dr. Fear began in July 2002 at Calgary University as Assistant professor. She became associate professor in 2005. Through her hard work and commitment, she became Associate Head - Research Professor, and she continue performing as Electrical Engineering professor.

In 2020, Dr Fear co-founded Wave View Imaging with the goal of commercializing medical microwave imaging. Wave View Imaging is one of three Canadian  companies selected for Pfizer's HealthCare Hub program in 2023.

Dr. Fear research is recognized internationally. She was invited to be the Key Note Speaker for ICMWIA (International Conference on Medical Microwave Imaging Applications in Lisbon Portugal in Feb 2026.
