Biography:

Simay Akar Koehler is a globally recognized, multi-award-winning sustainable energy executive, serial entrepreneur, and mission-driven systems strategist with deep expertise in climate solutions, inclusive innovation, and environmental justice.

She is the Founder and CEO of AKEC Sustainable & Greentech Solutions, a purpose-driven advisory firm advancing the global energy transition through strategic planning, technology evaluation, market expansion, and sustainable supply chain transformation for clean energy innovators and impact-focused enterprises.

She is also the Co-Founder and Board Member of Innoses, a vertically integrated battery energy storage company, where she previously served as Chief Commercial Officer. In this role, she led global growth, financing strategies, and ecosystem partnerships to scale access to reliable, affordable, and clean energy technologies worldwide.

Earlier in her career, Simay held executive leadership roles at Talesun Solar and Eko Renewable Energy, driving stakeholder engagement, global marketing strategy, and cross-border strategic initiatives supporting multibillion-dollar clean energy investments.

With extensive international experience in solar photovoltaics manufacturing, battery energy storage systems, electric mobility, and just energy transition programs, Simay brings a unique cross-sector perspective that bridges public-private partnerships, nonprofit impact, and responsible entrepreneurship.

Biography:

Eduardo is an IEEE Senior Member with more than 22 years of international experience in power systems, automation and critical infrastructure. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Simon Bolivar University, a Master of Science in Energy Engineering with a specialisation in Renewable Energy from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and an Executive
MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology.
Eduardo is currently the Managing Director of E-TEC Power Management, where he leads the design and delivery of integrated critical power and control system solutions for mission critical and high resilience environments, including data centres and complex infrastructure facilities. His work centres on UPS systems, standby and prime power generator installations, power distribution networks, synchronisation schemes and resilient electrical infrastructure. He oversees the implementation of monitoring and supervisory control systems that provide real time visibility of power quality, load management, redundancy performance and system fault conditions. His expertise lies in ensuring that critical power systems operate reliably under both normal and contingency scenarios, enhancing operational resilience, continuity of service and asset performance across essential facilities.
Eduardo currently serves as the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Region 8 Representative on the PES Governing Board. He also represents Region 8 on the IEEE PES Localised Technical Activities Committee and the Region 8 LTAC Award Committee. In addition, he is a member of the IEEE Region 8 Chapter Coordination Committee, supporting regional chapter development and technical engagement across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Biography:

Rosa Serrano is an energy regulation and power systems expert with over 20 years of experience in the electricity sector. She holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester (2024), where her research focused on enhancing power system resilience against wildfires. She also earned an MSc in Engineering and an Industrial Civil Engineering degree with a diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and completed further studies at the Florence School of Regulation.

Rosa has held senior roles in both the public and private sectors in Chile, including positions at the National Energy Commission, the Ministry of Energy, Synex Consultores, and Empresas Eléctricas A.G. She currently serves as an Associate Consultant at GME.

She is actively involved in IEEE and serves as Secretary of IEEE PES UK & Ireland. She also acted as the  IEEE PES WIP UK & Ireland chair between 2024 and 2025.
