In the era of advanced Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), digital ecosystems are increasingly interconnected, requiring the management of complex interactions among humans, artificial systems, and heterogeneous technological infrastructures. These interactions occur not only between people and systems, but also among autonomous systems operating within dynamic and evolving environments.

 

Context awareness has become a fundamental capability in such environments. It refers to the ability of systems to perceive, interpret, and exploit contextual information related to entities, operational conditions, and environmental situations in order to support adaptive and intelligent behaviors. Context is no longer limited to user or device states, but extends to organizational, operational, and systemic dimensions.

 

Within the framework of Industry 4.0 and emerging Industry 5.0 paradigms, intelligent systems must integrate decision intelligence and knowledge engineering approaches to ensure interoperability, coordination, and effective system integration. This special session addresses scientific and engineering challenges related to decision processes, knowledge representation, system integration, and context-aware interactions among devices, applications, cyberphysical systems, and System-of-Systems architectures.

 

This special session therefore aims to investigate theoretical foundations, modeling approaches, and engineering methodologies for decision processes, knowledge representation, semantic interoperability, and context-aware system integration within complex socio-technical environments.
