This lecture was mainly focussed on the wearable sensor technology and signal processing and their various application with respect to health.

Biography:

Gaurav Sharma is with the University of Rochester, where he is a Professor in the Department of ECE , CS and BCB. He is also a Distinguished Researcher in Center of Excellence in Data Science (CoE) at the Goergen Institute for Data Science . He received the Ph.D. in ECE from North  Carolina State University (NCSU), Raleigh, NC, USA, Masters degrees from NCSU and the IISc, Bangalore, India and B.Tech. degree from IIT, Roorkee. Dr. Sharma is a fellow of the IEEE, SPIE and IS&T. Dr. Sharma is a Member-at-Large on IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) Board of Governors. He was a 2020-21 Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE SPS . He served as the Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing (2018-20) and Journal of Electronic Imaging (2011-15). He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Proceedings of the IEEE and served as an associate editor for several journals. He is the editor of the "Digital Color Imaging Handbook" published by CRC press. Dr. Sharma served as the 2007 Chair of the IEEE Rochester Section. He is also a past member of the IEEE Spectrum Editorial Advisory Board. He was the Technical Program Co-Chair for the 2012 and 2016 editions of the IEEE ICIP.  Dr. Sharma serves on the IEEE Publication Services Product Board (PSPB) and is the current Chair of the IEEE PSPB Strategic Planning Committee. He served as the Chair of the IEEE Conference Publications Committee (CPC) during 2017-18. In 2015 and 2016, he served on the IEEE SPS’s Conferences Board and its Executive subcommittee.
