Biography:

Ricardo Silva is a Professor of Statistical Machine Learning and Data Science at the Department of Statistical Science, University College London. He obtained his PhD from the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University in 2005, followed by postdoctoral positions at the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit (UCL) and the Statistical Laboratory (Cambridge). Ricardo holds an Open Fellowship from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) in the UK, and is a co-lead of the Causality in Healthcare AI Hub (CHAI), a UK-wide effort for bringing ideas from causal AI modelling into healthcare applications.
