Event Title: Light For Little Fighters

Organized by: IEEE ENSIT SIGHT Group in collaboration with IEEE WIE ENSIT SBAG and IEEE WIE FST SBAG

Objective:
To raise awareness about childhood cancer and highlight the role of humanitarian engineering and technology-driven innovation in supporting young patients and their families. The event aimed to bring together students, experts, and technology enthusiasts to explore how innovative solutions can contribute to improving healthcare support systems for children battling cancer.

2. Description of Activities

  • Opening Session
    The event started with a welcome note introducing the mission of IEEE SIGHT and Women in Engineering initiatives. Organizers emphasized the importance of combining technology, innovation, and compassion to support children fighting cancer and their families.
  • Childhood Cancer Awareness Session
    This awareness session was presented by Mohamed Khaled Ben Ghorbal. The speaker shared important information about childhood cancer, its challenges, and the importance of raising awareness, supporting patients and families, and encouraging early detection.
  • Humanitarian Engineering Workshop: Designing Hope
    A workshop titled “Designing Hope: Humanitarian Engineering for Young Warriors” was delivered by Amira Ouerfelli. The session introduced participants to the principles of humanitarian engineering and demonstrated how technology can be leveraged to design impactful solutions addressing healthcare and social challenges.
  • Pitching Training Session
    The pitching training session was delivered by Baha Eddine Hammou. Participants learned key techniques for presenting innovative ideas effectively, structuring impactful pitches, and communicating humanitarian project concepts clearly.
  • Humanitarian Engineering Workshop: Designing Hope
    A workshop titled “Designing Hope: Humanitarian Engineering for Young Warriors” was delivered by Amira Ouerfelli. The session introduced participants to the principles of humanitarian engineering and demonstrated how technology can be leveraged to design impactful solutions addressing healthcare and social challenges.

3. Pre-Event Preparation Workshops

To better prepare participants and strengthen their technical knowledge, two online workshops were organized before the main event.

  • Artificial Intelligence Workshop
    Facilitated by Nour Ardhaoui, this workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and its potential applications in solving real-world challenges.
  • Leukemia Detection Using Artificial Intelligence
    Presented by Imen Masmoudi, this workshop demonstrated how Artificial Intelligence techniques can be applied in the medical field, particularly in the detection and analysis of leukemia.

4. Outcome

The event successfully raised awareness about childhood cancer while encouraging participants to explore the potential of technology and innovation in humanitarian healthcare. Participants gained valuable knowledge in humanitarian engineering, artificial intelligence applications in medicine, and effective communication and pitching skills.

5. Conclusion

Light For Little Fighters successfully brought together students, experts, and innovators to promote awareness and inspire technology-driven humanitarian solutions. The event highlighted the importance of collaboration, innovation, and social responsibility in addressing healthcare challenges and supporting children bravely fighting cancer.

During this interactive session, participants learned how to structure and present innovative ideas effectively. The workshop focused on key pitching techniques, storytelling strategies, and clear communication methods to help participants confidently present humanitarian and technology-based solutions to potential partners, mentors, or evaluators.
