IEEE-KFUEIT Student Branch Congress NEXUS’26
The IEEE-KFUEIT Student Branch successfully organized the IEEE-KFU Congress NEXUS’26, a two-day flagship event held at Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT), Rahim Yar Khan, under the theme “Advancing Technology for Humanity". The congress aimed to promote technological awareness, professional development, and collaboration between academia and industry while encouraging students to actively engage in innovative thinking and research-driven learning.
The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony and a welcome address by Engr. Dr. Shahid Atiq, Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering, who highlighted the importance of IEEE in shaping future engineers and providing a global platform for knowledge exchange. The program included an IEEE Introduction Session delivered by Engr. Dr. Aoun Muhammad, which provided participants with a comprehensive overview of IEEE’s global mission, membership benefits, and professional development opportunities. A session on IEEE Scholarships and Funding Opportunities by Dr. Asjad Ameen further guided students regarding research grants, international scholarships, and academic funding opportunities available through IEEE and other platforms.
A major highlight of the congress was an engaging panel discussion moderated by Engr. Dr. Abubakar Siddique, IEEE Branch Counselor, featuring distinguished professionals from leading organizations, including FFL, FFC, NTDC (WAPDA), and MEPCO. The panelists shared practical insights about emerging technologies, industry expectations, career pathways, and the evolving role of engineers in addressing real-world challenges. The session encouraged interactive participation and provided valuable career guidance to students.
Day two of the congress focused on knowledge sharing and student engagement through expert talks, including sessions on social sciences and recent breakthroughs in medical sciences. The event also hosted a variety of competitions and engagement activities such as Poster Design and Project Expo, Capture The Flag (CTF), Guess & Hunt, and an Art Smackdown competition. These activities provided participants with opportunities to demonstrate creativity, technical skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
The congress concluded with cultural performances followed by an awards and acknowledgment ceremony where trophies, shields, and certificates were presented to competition winners, guest speakers, sponsors, and members of the organizing team in recognition of their valuable contributions.
