The IEEE Syracuse Section invites you to join us as we celebrate our newest and legacy IEEE Fellows from the Syracuse membership!


2026 is another great year for the Syracuse Section of the IEEE. Join us for our annual Section dinner as we celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of our members, and hear from the newest IEEE Fellow of the Syracuse Section, Dr. M Cenk Gursoy.

Our evening celebration will begin with registration and a social hour (cash bar) at 5:30 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Registration will remain open through the day of the event (April 9), and payment is not required at the time of registration. However, we kindly ask that you register by April 7 to help us obtain an accurate headcount.

Payment can be made online via credit card or PayPal through this webpage. On April 9, payments will be accepted by cash or check only.

M Cenk Gursoy

Biography:

M. Cenk Gursoy (Fellow, IEEE) earned the B.S. in electrical and electronics engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey in 1999, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, in 2004. Dr. Gursoy is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University. His research interests include the general areas of wireless communications, information theory, communication networks, signal processing, optimization, and machine learning.

Dr. Gursoy has received numerous awards throughout his career, including the NSF CAREER Award, 2020 IEEE Region 1 Technological Innovation (Academic) Award, UNL College Distinguished Teaching Award, and the 38th AIAA/IEEE Digital Avionics Systems Conference Best of Session Award. In addition, Dr. Gursoy has also received best paper awards from 2008 EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2017 IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2017 IEEE Green Communications & Computing Technical Committee

Dr. Gursoy has a long history of service to the IEEE, serving as co-chair of the Aerospace/Communications/Signal Processing Joint Chapter of the IEEE Syracuse Section. Dr. Gursoy has also served as co-chair of multiple conferences, including the 2017 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC)—Communication QoS and System Modeling Symposium, the 2019 IEEE Global Communications Conference (Globecom)—Wireless Communications. Furthermore, Dr. Gursoy has served as an editor for many journals, including IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, and IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking,

Dr. Gursoy has been recognized as a Fellow of the IEEE as part of the Class of 2026 “for contributions to learning-based decision making and optimal resource management in low-latency wireless networks”.
