Special Programme on Advanced Research and Knowledge (SPARK -VI)
IEEE MTT-S GGV Student Branch Chapter presents:
SPARK-VI | Expert Talk Series
Igniting the Flame of Advanced Research and Knowledge
Event Description
IEEE MTT-S GGV Student Branch Chapter, India, is pleased to announce the sixth session of our flagship series, SPARK. This session focuses on the critical passive hardware that forms the backbone of modern communication networks.
In this installment, we welcome Dr. Rusan Kumar Barik from Christ University, Bangalore. He will deliver an expert talk on the Design and Optimization of Multiband Microwave Passive Components for Next-Generation Wireless Systems. As wireless standards evolve toward 5G and beyond, the need for components that can operate efficiently across multiple frequency bands is paramount. This talk will explore the methodologies for designing and optimizing these essential microwave elements to meet the rigorous demands of next-generation connectivity.
Key Highlights:
-
Overview of multiband requirements in modern wireless communication.
-
Design techniques for passive microwave components (filters, power dividers, etc.).
-
Optimization strategies for enhancing performance and reducing footprint.
-
Challenges in integrating multiband components into next-gen systems.

Dr. Rusan Kumar Barik
Design and Optimization of Multiband Microwave Passive Components for Next-Generation Wireless Systems
Abstract of the Talk:
Modern wireless communication standards, including 5G and beyond, demand hardware capable of supporting diverse frequency bands simultaneously. This talk explores advanced methodologies for the design and optimization of multiband microwave passive components, such as filters, power dividers, and couplers.
Dr. Rusan Kumar Barik will discuss the shift from single-band to multi-functional passive structures, focusing on techniques to achieve high selectivity, low insertion loss, and compact footprints. The session will cover mathematical modeling, EM simulation strategies, and optimization algorithms essential for meeting the stringent requirements of next-generation wireless infrastructure, providing a roadmap for developing efficient, interference-resistant communication systems.
