This session will begin with an introduction to mobile networks, including modern 5G systems, followed by a brief overview of the types of projects our group works on in areas such as network monitoring, automation, and AI-driven systems. Attendees will then be guided through our 5G testbed infrastructure to see how these ideas are explored in a research setting. The session will conclude with a live demonstration on the platform, showing how concepts developed in the lab translate into working systems that can improve real-world communication networks. Overall, the session highlights that modern 5G networks are programmable, software-driven systems that can be monitored, sliced, and dynamically optimized to support diverse applications. By connecting foundational concepts to a live research platform, attendees will see how computer science contributes to the design of adaptive and efficient network infrastructure that powers real-world digital experiences.
