Dr. Amy Pinchuk founder of InField Scientific Inc. will talk about her Industrial Career +...
In 1994, Dr. Amy Pinchuk founded InField Scientific Inc., a company specializing in electromagnetic simulation, analysis, and testing for Navy shipboard environments. She has served as the lead industrial Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) subject matter expert for the design and refit of Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) ships and also provides E3 expertise to the Royal New Zealand Navy. InField’s work focuses on optimizing ship design for system performance and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) across mission-critical communication, navigation, and electronic warfare systems. The safety of personnel, ordnance, and fuel is a critical concern in shipboard environments characterized by extremely high electromagnetic fields. This presentation explores the scientific, engineering, and management challenges encountered over three decades in this highly specialized domain.

Biography:
Dr. Amy Pinchuk Biography
Dr. Amy Pinchuk is the president and founder of InField Scientific Inc (1994). InField specializes in electromagnetic compatibility and interference (EMC/EMI), electromagnetic environmental effects (E3), Radiation Hazards (RADHAZ), and computational electromagnetic analysis. For the past twenty five years, InField's primary focus has been electromagnetic analysis, simulations and testing of military shipboard environments for the Royal Canadian Navy and for the New Zealand Royal Navy. She has also taught a Software Engineering course at McGill University. She received her Ph. D. (1988), M. Eng. (1985) and B. Eng. (1983) from McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Peter Silvester. She was a visiting scholar at Cambridge University in England (1985). Dr. Pinchuk is the IEEE Montreal Section Past Chair and the EMC Society Chapter Past Chair. She was also a member of the IEEE EMC Society Board of Directors, and the Canadian Chair for URSI Section B. She is also the author of several children's books which focus on engineering for youngsters.
