IEEE EMB Greece Chapter Webinar Series: Exploring Engineering Solutions for Alzheimer's Disease
IEEE EMB Greece Chapter Webinar Series: Exploring Engineering Solutions for Alzheimer's Disease
While memory decline is often associated with normal brain aging, it can also be a precursor to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. With no current cure or "vaccine" available, and traditional clinical treatments often yielding low response rates, the focus is shifting toward innovative, multi-disciplinary approaches to delay onset and slow disease progression.
What you will Learn:
- The limitations of current pharmaceutical treatments (like cholinesterase inhibitors).
- How engineering-driven solutions are paving the way for new treatments.
- Insights into therapies like repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and transcranial alternating/direct current stimulation (tACS/tDCS) combined with cognitive exercises.
- Exciting results from recent longitudinal clinical trials.
