Topic:

Leveraging GIS and Remote Sensing for Climate Action and Environmental Sustainability in Nigeria

This session explores how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing can be leveraged to address pressing environmental and climate-related challenges in Nigeria. As climate change continues to impact ecosystems, livelihoods, and urban development, geospatial technologies provide powerful tools for monitoring environmental changes, analyzing spatial data, and supporting evidence-based decision-making.

The presentation will highlight practical applications of GIS and Remote Sensing in areas such as environmental monitoring, disaster risk management, resource management, and sustainable development planning. Participants will gain insights into how satellite data, spatial analysis, and emerging technologies can be applied to solve real-world environmental problems.

The session will also emphasize the role of innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and capacity building in advancing climate action, particularly for students and young professionals interested in geospatial technologies and environmental sustainability.
