This talk discusses a new Wide Band Digital Receiver with 140 MHz instantaneous bandwidth. In the receiver, 32,000 CISPR detectors or 8,000 MIL-STD PEAK detectors operate simultaneously over a 140 MHz instantaneous bandwidth. The paper shows how the daily tasks of EMI test engineers are greatly simplified and shortened by orders of magnitude. Some hereto unimagined EMI problem-solving capabilities are explained, such as the ability to catch and quantify fast transient emissions.

Biography: Nic du Toit is a cum laude graduate of South Africa’s University of Stellenbosch, with a Masters of Science degree in Engineering. Mr. du Toit has lectured in RF and Microwave Engineering at the University. He also worked in South Africa’s defense industry, creating EW receivers. He managed sales and technical support for a South African company before coming to the U.S. Nic has 30 years of experience in the development and the management of teams developing RF & Microwave fast scanning EW receivers, fast switching low noise synthesizers, tunable filters, low phase noise VCO's, power amplifiers and advanced DSP-based EMC receivers.

Mr. du Toit is currently the Vice President of Engineering for AR, based in Souderton, PA.
